Summary
Founded in 1850, Lehman Brothers was one of Wall Street's oldest investment banks, but in September 2008, having taken a heavy blow from the sub prime mortgage crisis enveloping the US, it was on the brink of collapse. This film joins the story on Friday 12 September as the CEOs of Wall Street's leading investment houses and commercial banks are briefed on the Lehman situation. The US Treasury will not intervene - the only hope of controlling the chaos that would ensue if Lehman collapsed lies with the banks themselves. But all those present know that, due to the interconnected nature of 21st century banking, chaos for one financial institution means chaos for all... Inspired by the events of those three days, this drama follows the major players as they race against the clock to put together a rescue package for the failing bank and shows how they all have something to gain or lose during the long weekend's negotiation. The Last Days of Lehman Brothers tells the story of the most dramatic weekend on Wall Street since 1929 and a moment in time that will live on in history
