Summary
Publisher Annotation: Juan Belmonte lives in the south of Chile, facing the sea, leading a simple and almost anonymous life, accompanied by an incorrigible friend and his memories of an old guerrilla who has also worked as an agent and has accepted commissions from some of his old commanders. After giving the gold coins that escaped Nazis from Spandau prison, Juan Belmonte receives a call: he must locate those who want to rescue a prisoner in Bachelet's Chile. He is a famous torturer, descendant of Cossacks, who knows a lot about who supported the Pinochet dictatorship and protected him during this period. The end of History revalidates Luis Sepulveda as a great narrator, expert and agile, capable not only of plotting a trajectory from past to the present, but of unfolding before the reader his historical connections with the Russian Revolution and with the army of Cossacks, who swore a fierce anticommunist hatred. An international thriller and a historical inquiry into the executioners who worked for the Chilean dictatorship
