The reseach in this book reaches from the first log schoolhouse on Mill Creek near Prineville, to the old schoolhouses that stood in the outlying districts of the Mitchell, Prineville, Madras, Redmond and Bend areas. Befre the new counties of Wheeler, Jefferson and Deschutes were formed from Old Crook County, there were classes being held in about one-hundred remote rural schools
