Summary
The training program highlights libraries that provide outstanding services to teens and shows how to replicate their successes. Serving teens in libraries showcases the outstanding services offered by the Public Library of Charlotte (NC) and Mecklenburg County, Queens (NY) Library, and the Baltimore County (MD) Public Library. LVN crews spent several days in each location to learn as much as possible about how they're successfully reaching the toughest audience. The program shows not just the positive atmospheres created by having unique teen spaces but the greater importance of developing a successful mindset to working with teens. The idea is that you have to embrace young people and give them these opportunities so that they can give something back to you but also with radical trust, you are inviting them to be members of the community instead of just telling them what to do and how to do it and when to do it. You are actually saying come and be a part of this and help us, said Michele Gorman, Director of Teen services for the public library of Charlotte (NC) and Mecklenburg County. Examples of popular teen programming and outreach services are also shown in the program." 3 1/2 Stars...Highly recommended" Ṽideo Librarian
