Summary
Thanks to her favorite meal of alphabet soup, Martha the dog can speak. As a consequence, Martha is very interested in words, and she generally has adventures while learning new ones! Martha gets a job as a substitute teacher, and she takes it very seriously. Procrastinator TD wonders if he can finish his school project in time. Truman's been hiding in the garage and acting weird, and has a gruesome story to tell. Skits starts wearing a polka dot bow tie like Malcolm, the blue monkey on TV. Martha loses her collar and winds up in the animal shelter, and finds that freedom isn't much without a family. Bob has gotten off his chain and has imprisoned Truman, Helen, Alice, TD, Kazuo, and his owner up a tree! To distract Jake from the sweltering heat, Martha tells an adventure story with giants, queens, and a very familiar fire-breathing cat
