Summary
"In 'Double Deceit' by John D. Nesbitt, a man named Dunbar rides into Temple Basin on a mission to find a killer and bring him to justice. Tommy Stallings joins forces with Bill Slaughter, agent for the Stock-Raisers' Association of Northwest Texas, to investigate a rash of crimes committed by cattle rustlers that are terrorizing small ranchers in the Texas Panhandle in 'Scarecrows' by Jim Jones. In 'Cold the Bitter Heart' by Phil Mills, Jr., Jake Summers follows a mysterious trail of evidence littered with suspects but finds the worst offender can be the most unlikely suspect. Scrap Elliott, a veteran Texas Ranger of the original Frontier Battalion encounters an old flame in Waco, Texas. Her husband dies in front of him, which sets Scrap on a mission to find the woman and prove to the local sheriff that he was nothing more than an innocent bystander, not a cold-blooded killer in 'Wind in His Face' by Larry D. Sweazy"--Jacket flap of a previous edition
